Our Remarkables

Meet Candice

Shining a spotlight on those making a difference at Wood is an important part of our inspired culture. We are all about motivating our teams to be the best they can be, recognising the expertise, capabilities, and positive energy they bring to work every single day.

Meet Candice Wilson, Partner for Strategy & Transformation in our digital advisory business.

I began my career at Wood when I moved to the United Kingdom for a graduate rotation programme after completing my chemical engineering degree.

A few years later, I had the chance to join our proposals and development team in South Africa and work with clients on the business development side before I took on a new role outside the company to fine-tune my skills in creating digital advisory roadmaps and operating models for major energy operators.

This was where I discovered the value of digitalisation in the project lifecycle.

I find it exciting to advise our clients on their digital initiatives. My team recently developed a strategy for Atlantic Shores, creating a digital roadmap that outlines the best path for information to flow to ensure successful, optimised operations. We are also building digital project execution strategies for large oil and gas companies and deploying these on major capital projects as we support them through multiple phases of development.

Decoding digital transformation.

What excites me most in my role is the intersection of digitalisation and decarbonisation. We can play a really important role in helping our clients secure the investment they need to make their energy transition projects viable by applying our digital solutions and technologies to reduce operational expenditure. I think we’ll see many projects advance quickly if they get the right digital support – we take a lot of pride in what we’re able to offer our clients in this space. It’s truly difference-making.

For me, designing the future means implementing digital systems in a way that unburdens the workforce and creates time and space for more value-adding work, allowing autonomous operations to take care of the rest.

People are at the core of why I do this work and I’m passionate about creating a community where we can work together and share ideas.

Instilling that sense of community in my children is important to me too. I serve on the Board of the Young Men’s Service League and our local swim team. My family and I also support our local community by volunteering at Brookwood, an organisation that supports adults with disabilities.

I want to give my children and young people – especially women – looking to enter this industry someone to look up to and to show them what you can achieve through hard work. Sometimes, the best way to start is by stepping outside your comfort zone - you never know what opportunities might await you.
