On 2 July, members of our nuclear team hosted the Wood stand at the Big Bang North West in Liverpool.
The Big Bang programme aims to bring science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) to life for young people, to inspire them to consider science or engineering careers. Big Bang Fairs are full of hands-on activities, interactive workshops, exciting theatre shows and opportunities to talk to scientists and engineers from local and national companies all over the UK.
Sophie Kelly, Holly Bardsley, Daniel Hilton, Alistair Pickup, Joseph Crutchley, Sean Cameron and Matthew Aqius attended the North West Fair on behalf of Wood.
The event was a huge success with around 6000 students aged between seven to 19 attending over the course of the day and a high level of engagement from all children who visited Wood’s stand. There was always a queue for the virtual reality demonstration along with ‘particle pinball’ and the glovebox demonstration proving a great success.
In 2017/2018, more than 160,000 students and over 900 employers visited regional and local Big Bang Fairs. Visit https://www.thebigbangfair.co.uk/ for more information.
